The new Swiss indexes of April 2026 are in!
Today, it's INDEX DAY! We start today with the first indexes coming in from Switzerland! The release of breeding values for April 2026 brings significant changes. The new ISET is being introduced. The most important changes are that greater importance is being placed on high milk fat and protein production. In addition, mastitis resistance replaces somatic cell count in the index. The most notable change, however, is the recalibration of the ISET and its sub-indices. Over time, the standard deviation of the ISET had risen to over 100. By resetting this value to 100, the extreme values will converge toward the mean. This calibration has no effect on the rankings; it affects only the published values. In the future, an ISET of 1500 will be achieved only very rarely.
The new leader in the Swiss chart is Progenesis Torchlight, a Sheepster son at +1519 ISET. In second follows Cookiecutter Hadley at +1513 ISET and making the top 3 complete with Lars-Acres Caruthers-S at +1505 ISET. Daughterproven ITP sire NH DG Arrow is the Nr. 2 ITP sire this run at +130 ITP. The King Doc son, bred by Nosbisch Holsteins and Diamond Genetics straight out of Al-Lew Monterey Ashley EX-95-USA delivered many showwinners in last year at the coloured shavings!
